Dear future writer, My reasearch paper is on Linguistics. The area of my research paper is : Metathesis in the context of word-formation. I have not \”developed\” a topic. But my idea was to develop or work on the following (it is an abstact from the paper – which is not in English – on metathesis ): \”Abstract. The paper deals with the analysis of metathesis in 2 aspects: in the plane of intralingual variation and in the plane of interlingual variation. As an instance of intralingual variation metathesis appears as a speech error ( a slip of the tongue) or a deviation from the norm with territorially or stylistically restricted usage. Within the interlingual continuum metathesis can be a standard lexical unit and the fact of metathesis is established with reference to other similar words of related languages. In this case metathesis can be conducive to defining the direction or closeness of genetic ties of words. \” So if you could take English and German and/or Russian and define their \”closeness\” through metathesis (looking at it diachronically) would be great (or so it seems to me). If you come up with any other idea, that is fine. BUT the main topic must be: Metathesis. Now, IF metathesis does not work, we could come up with basically anything in the context of WORD-FORMATION. That is essential. But I would prefer Metathesis in that context. – We need 3-5 solid examples for the paper. – I have found this website which might help coming up with data/ ideas: http://www.elinguistics.net/Compare_Languages.aspx (on the genetic proximity of the languages). I started working on metathesis a bit, so I could give you some references if needed. Please find a tiny chapter on metathesis attached to get an overview.
